The made-for-TV drama movie, Holiday Spin, centers around a boy named Blake, who is forced to live with his estranged father after his mother is killed and he is seriously injured, in a car accident on Thanksgiving Eve. When his fathers dance studio is on the verge of financial ruin, Blake decides to dance in a competition with one of his fathers students to win a grand prize large enough to fix all their problems. Holiday Spin is written by Albert Leon and directed by Jonathan A. Rosenbaum. It was broadcast on Lifetime on November 18, 2012 as a holiday special. The movie runs a total of one hour and 28 minutes and is rated TV-PG. The story begins with Blake, played by Garrett Clayton, and his mother Roxy. Together they live in Charlotte, North Carolina where Blake is hoping to advanced his career as a fighter. A car accident on Thanksgiving Eve leaves Blake seriously injured and his mother dead. Recovering from his near fatal experience, Blake finds his estranged father waiting to confirm that he is alright. Blakes father, Rubin, then tells him that because Blakes mother is gone he has no guardian, so he will be returning with the father he does not know back to Miami, Florida to live. Blake finds that Rubin, played by Ralph Macchio, has a dance studio which is suffering from financial problems. His hopes lay with his student Pia, and prodigy, Rob, to win the Holiday Spin, a competition which could solve the studios woes by providing them with a $50,000 grand prize. After Rob cheats on Pia with Tezza, he decides to leave her and instead dance with Tezza for a competing dance studio. Blake then chooses to dance with Pia and they end up competing together in the Holiday Spin to help Rubins studio.
